In recent years, the problem of plastic pollution has become increasingly serious and solutions are being actively sought around the world. In order to effectively address the environmental challenges posed by single-use plastic products, the German Environment Agency (GEA) has launched the German Single-Use Plastics Fund (DIVID). Today, Hee will introduce this innovative platform and its important role in the field of environmental protection.
What do sellers need to do?
Step 1: If you are a producer with a registered company in Germany, register all your brands in each single-use plastics category through the German Environment Agency's Single-Use Plastics Fund Platform (DIVID) to obtain a registration number. If you ship or resell single-use plastics goods directly, ask your upstream supplier for a registration number;
Step 2: Submit your registration number in the Compliance Portal (you will be notified when the portal goes live in Q3-Q4 2024);
Step 3: From 2025 onwards, report to DIVID the types and quantities of single-use plastic goods you sell in Germany each year and pay the corresponding tax (eco-payment).
If you are a producer and are not registered as a company in Germany, you can create an account on DIVID and appoint an authorized representative to meet the requirements for single-use plastics for you. As of August 1, 2024, you can register your brand on DIVID.
We recommend that you register on DIVID immediately to ensure that you can demonstrate compliance to Amazon when the Compliance Portal goes live to accept single-use plastic item declarations in Q3-Q4 2024.
What is the Deutsche Einwegkunststofffonds Plattform (DIVID)?

The platform promotes corporate environmental responsibility by imposing an environmental impact fee on single-use plastic products, while providing financial support for environmental projects.
Main functions of the DIVID platform
1.Registration and Reporting
Producers and importers are required to register an account on the DIVID platform and submit data on the use and sales of single-use plastic products on a regular basis.
2.Cost Calculation and Payment
Based on the data submitted by enterprises, the platform will calculate the environmental impact fee payable and provide convenient payment channels.
3.Fund Management
The fees collected will be used to fund environmental programs and measures to reduce the environmental impact of plastic waste.
4.Monitoring and Enforcement
The Platform will monitor the compliance of companies to ensure effective enforcement of regulations.
